Annoying Issues And A Lesson Well Learned

Just a quick warning:
This is going to be a bit of a rant...

So as most of you know, I am the creator/owner of TheTudors group on deviantART (http://thetudors.deviantart.com/) Back in early November, someone commented on that page, saying that we should all check out this roleplay group called Tudors Saga. So I did, thinking, why not? My first rude encounter with them was when I joined and auditioned for the cannon role of Katherine Howard. Not more than five minutes after submitting this, I was told that it was being "REJECTED" because there already was a Katherine Howard. The user also told me to look more carefully and see the character's page to see who was and wasn't available (I would like to quickly point out that this 'character page' is not very easy to find, and one has to dig for it to find it). This person later apologized to me for being so rude, but I still don't think it was a very good first impression for a moderator to make to one of their new members.

Anyway, I carried on and had my name changed to Ursula Misseldon and took on the responsibilities of being that character. I uploaded an avatar with the playby for the character and also made a picture for my signature with pictures of other actresses that would be the playbys for up coming characters of mine. I spent at least an hour on it, mind you. A couple days go by and I start roleplaying - everything is smooth. However, today when I logged on I had a message from an admin saying that I needed to sign the rules for the roleplay and that I needed to change my signature because someone else already had one of my girls for their playby. Now I understand that they have their rules and such, but there are only a certain number of people that can be used as playbys for the Tudor era because how difficult it can be to find pictures of actors and actresses in period dress. So what happens when this RPG gets bigger? Are they going to tell every single person who chooses a playby that is the same as someone else's that they must remove or change it? I find that quite unprofessional.

In the end, I am incredibly irritated. Not only did I spend a decent amount of time making that signature banner, but they have the nerve to tell someone that they cannot use an actress as a playby for something because someone else has it. My biggest regret is that I submitted a journal to TheTudors group recommending this group long before I knew exactly how it was and what the people on there were like. Forgive me if you checked out that group and were as unsatisfied as I was. I think I will delete my account from there, or at least not be as active on it as before until I am no longer mad.

What are your thoughts?

Top 10: Favorite Pieces of Jewelry from The Tudors

The first of my top 10 series :)

10: Anne Boleyn's 'B' necklace
http://image.wetpaint.com/image/1/FV3J9Pbo-0q-mjoeeOxUHA375449/GW194H243

I absolutely adore this necklace, it probably has a lot to do with the fact that it is her trademark and it is so well known. I'd love to have one - even though I don't have a 'B' anywhere in my name xD

9: Anne of Cleve's Gold and Pearl Necklace
http://image.wetpaint.com/image/1/trlKpGtoqsIXtxligzwr5A12487/GW268H264

When Anne first came to court, she really didn't dress in the English fashion, but I truly began to love her dresses and jewelry once she started to catch onto the fashion in England. This is by far my favorite piece of hers.

8: Anne's Cross and Beads
http://image.wetpaint.com/image/1/8N_ZBghZGmeL9YQioDS3iQ102577/GW223H293

It's so terribly simple, but it worked for the scenes it was in. I have something similar to it, but it's all silver. I want the one she wore! If I had that, I might actually go to church xD

7: Anne's Volta Dance Necklace
http://image.wetpaint.com/image/1/Rc2BxpF4W94oTws-pSsKUw56043/GW150H239

A rather large and shiny piece of jewelry. However, it went very well with the dress and the scene. Not my favorite piece, but certainly not bad :)

6: Anne's Execution Necklace
http://image.wetpaint.com/image/1/FNq_6tawYPppLxuPIER6Yw289267/GW207H310

A very modest but classy piece. The perfect way to show that she would remain a queen up until the very end, and definitely the perfect necklace for her to wear during her last few minutes on screen.

5: Anne's Topaz (?) Cross
http://image.wetpaint.com/image/1/nTcYT95K1CnMxWYHZXLyZA61400/GW189H219
http://image.wetpaint.com/image/1/CSotjhCfiBj9bbUMWZYzRg47728/GW121H231

I love how this piece of jewelry looks great worn on a long chain or a short chain. The stones are beautiful and I feel that the color works very well with Anne's complexion.

4: Katherine of Aragon's Gold, Pearl and Ruby Necklace
http://image.wetpaint.com/image/1/164K7M4qbwDsrNxF4IU8ug20117/GW195H195

Very similar to some other pieces you see on the show, but different enough to suit Katherine and her tastes. The perfect statement for the queen :)

3: Anne's Royally Purple Necklace
http://image.wetpaint.com/image/1/5rxhIiEIZb4Ww7sslLABoQ315028/GW239H312

Purple is the color of royalty, which is the exact statement Anne is trying to make in this scene. She is completely covered in the color, and the necklace really tops it off. A gorgeous piece that leaves me feeling like I just saw a queen.

2: Kitty and Cate's Blue Stoned Necklace
http://image.wetpaint.com/image/3/JoUnb_yuN1bCBZfnPhUwvQ191661/GW258H300
http://image.wetpaint.com/image/3/aEg6RPAtkC7Cd9mn6xYUtA127660/GW246H375

It's the same necklace, if I'm not mistaken, and it's my favorite out of both queen's collections. It's absolutely stunning and works well on both of them. It's a very versatile piece. It shows the innocence of Katherine Howard (as they obviously tried to do with all the blues and pinks and whites) but it is also able to show maturity and elegance when worn on Catherine Parr.

1: Jane Seymour's Wedding Necklace
http://image.wetpaint.com/image/1/HA845cuyltxWtVjDm30giA18607/GW201H230

So virginal and so Jane. Perfect for her wedding to Henry. I love it so much that I want this piece for my own wedding. Absolutely gorgeous!!

SRK IS MAGIC!

Review On Captain Newman M.D.!

So you all know by now that I am absolutely in love with Gregory Peck, right? Well one of the great things about being in love - okay, obsessed - with a certain person at a particular time is that you end up liking other people because of the connections they have to them. This is one of those cases!

Summary:

Dr. Josiah Newman [Peck] runs the psychiatric unit of a U.S. Military Hospital during WWII. Short of help, Newman coerces newly arrived neurotic orderly Jackson Leibowitz [Curtis] to work in his ward. Leibowitz's scheming & humor quickly turns life inside the ward upside down. Newman, while amused, tries to maintain a semblance of order. Newman's other recruit to the ward is nurse Lt. Francie Corum [Dickenson]. Corum is at first shocked by what she sees in the ward, but admires the compassionate & effective way in which Newman deals with each of his patients. Together Newman & Corum help a variety of patients with war related psychological traumas, while they themselves struggle with the dilemma of healing these soldiers so they can be sent back into battle to face possible death.

Taken from IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0056903/plotsummary

It's been soooo long since I've seen a movie where every single person in the film did an AMAZING job - But it happened with this film. Peck was amazing as usual, and brought a funny aspect to the film that you usually don't see from him. Curtis was also hilarious - much funnier than I ever expected! But perhaps the best performance of all was from Bobby Darin, who played
Cpl. Jim Tompkins. He was even nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. His performance as a guilt-ridden soldier leaves a lasting effect on you that you will not soon forget. A very enjoyable movie that both addresses difficult issues but also keeps a light mood - I highly recommend you check it out!

St. Patrick's Day Where I Live

I was trying to think of something I could blog about for a few days now, and it finally hit me - St. Patrick's Day! I live on an island, I won't say where because I'd rather not have any stalkers, but I live on an island. On this island. most of the population, although small, is Irish. So, as you can imagine, in a place where the majority of people are Irish, St. Pattys day is a big celebration, and you're right.

When St. Patricks day, or The Great Day, as it's called up here, is on a weekday and all us young people are in school, it's a big deal. We all have a costume contest, eat little goodies and treats, and participate in games and movies. I'd have to say that's a good thing because where I live, this is about the only holiday we do get to do things for (We don't get most holidays like Presidents day or Martin Luther King Jr. day off.. Stupid? Yes!) Later on in the night, the people who have reached the nice lovely age of 18 get to go to the bar and party all night - or at least until closing time.

Then we have The Great Weekend, or St. Patrick's day weekend. This can happen the weekend before or the weekend after St. Patricks day. On The Saturday of The Great Weekend, which was yesterday, we all go downtown and participate in various games. These games include a fish toss, a cart race, and a tug - a - war contest among others. Then, like on St. Patricks Day, the older people get to go to the bar and give their livers a run for their money once again. I can't wait to finally be old enough to go out and experience The Great Day/Weekend in the bar - It's always a crazy blast!

Ah yes, this is the place to be for celebrating St. Patricks day. There's nothing better than all the games and of course the parting hehe. Yes, it's good to be Irish :D

Halfway Through March Already?

It's so hard to believe that we're already halfway through March and more than halfway through the school year. Most people would say that's cool, but I don't know.. It's going to be hard to say goodbye to my Sophomore year simply because I'm getting closer to graduating and of course, the real world. But well, such is life, and now on to other things!

Something most of you probably don't know about me is that I'm crazy about makeup. I spend most of my time on YouTube watching various makeup gurus. My favorites are:

www.youtube.com/julieg713
www.youtube.com/vivalamakeupp
www.youtube.com/allthatglitters21 (Blog: http://allthatglitters21.blogspot.com/ )
www.youtube.com/jucystar07 ( Blog: http://blairfowler.blogspot.com/ )

I love signing into my YouTube account everyday after school and seeing the new videos they've posted. They're amazing and they all have their own style of makeup. I just love all the ideas they give me, and I'd probably be doing my own beauty guru videos if I was confident enough hehe. Anyway, I hope you check those guys out because they're awesome and if you love makeup or fashion or anything like that they'll have some things you'll probably love.

Thanks again to everyone who reads these blogs and especially to the people who comment on them! Thanks so much for the support and keep an eye out for more entries!

Movie of the Month: Mean Girls

Mean Girls is definitely one of my all time favorite movies. I always go to MG when I need to just have a laugh or think about how stupid girls can be. Because I'm always looking for new ways to entertain myself, on and offline, I came up with a fun little project. Every day in March I'm going to get on my personal Facebook and post one of the more funny or memorable quotes from MG. I'll post them on here as well if you want to know.. and if you don't, skip over those entries. :)

So what do you guys think about Mean Girls? Have you seen it? If not, would you be interested in seeing it? You can also suggest which movie(s) you think would be good for April's movie of the month. I'd be happy to hear your suggestions.

Thanks for reading and I promise these blogs are going to become about more interesting things and deviantArt. Thanks again for the support. :)
